I just tried doing the 6 floppy disc recovery method for my computer, and I kept getting errors, and it was quite aggrivating. Wondering if there's a more reliable source, or something? Much appreciated!

Do you mean you were getting errors;

1. creating the boot floppies, or,
2. you were getting errors using them to boot an XP machine?

Once the above is clarified, what kind of errors were you getting?

Can you explain "recovery"? Are you trying to use a manufacturers recovery partition to bring the machine to a "new from the factory" state?

I take it you don't have an XP CD hence the six boot floppies. Correct?

My XP cd has a crack in it, so doesn't work so well. But I get the problem when booting it up on my pc, it seems to be disc 5, i'm always getting errors about cdrom.sys, or some sort of .sys file. I think they may have been removed, because i'm copying them from a floppy to the c drive, and it seems to disappear afterwards.

I'm trying to restore it a normal state though, i keep getting an ntdetect fail message when i boot up, and this is the only method i've found plausible short of taking it to a professional.

I got it working again. I found a boot disk that had the stuff i needed, now i'm not sure how to transfer the files from boot disk to c drive, but i'll worry about that later. thanks for posting though Dan.
