    no sound

Hi and thanks for a response. I hve a 6 yr old H/P 533w that crashed. a friend got it going and since i didn't have a install disc he used one that was from a dell computer. evrtthing works fine except i have no audio devices, no volume control in the taskbar, if i go to sound/audio while it comes up i can't activate anything as the control buttons appear dimmed and nonfunctioning. it seems i have no sound card, tho the speaker jack appears to plug into the main oe motherboard. i have run every troubleshooter that xp has and it comes up to the same thing, it doesn't think i have a sound card. do different computer companies xp programs conflicgt and how do i correct this? thank you for any help . God bless edgar

    check this out first

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot.

audio is realtek go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC

Download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click downloaded file on desktop to install

    The site is slow

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
