windows xp background is all white. i cannot change color or anything else. does someone know how to fix this. i would greatly appreciate any help.

I take it you mean your Desktop background?

Have you done the usual;
Right click an empty area of the Desktop, choose Properties. Click the Destop or Appearance tab and attempt to choose/change a color from there?

If so, what happens? Any error messages?

Tabs or selection boxes greyed out?

Are the drivers for your chipset and display loaded?
