cd rewriter and monitor help
I have two problems with my windows xp dimension 3000. The first is with my monitor. During startup my monitor would go into powersave mode and I couldn't access my pre-bootup options. Then a few days later it just stayed in powersave mode. I have moved the monitor to the other port and it works fine but I would like to know how to fix the other port. My other problem also has to do with the ports I think. I have an old backpack cd rewriter from back in the 90's and I tried hooking it up to my computer the other day. It's a plug and play model so Im not sure why the device isn't found when I plug it in. I have tried searching for new devices manually in the control panel and nothing comes up. Also, windows media player can't detect a rewriting device. I checked my device manager and my computer can't find drivers for the SM Bus Controller, USB controller, or the Video controller but the rewriter isn't a usb compatible device so I'm not sure what is wrong. The device manager only has two ports that show up and both of them are working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
