    Welcome to techhelpforum.

    Download, install, and run Everest Home Edition on this machine. (Clean FreeWare) Once it's finished loading and running, click on the Report Wizard in the Menu Bar. Save all hardware related pages (the default) to a TEXT file in a location of your choice. (It will default the location to C:\Program Files\Lavalys\EVEREST Home Edition\Reports, unless you redirect it.)

    If the HP machine doesn't have internet capabilities, download the program to a machine which does and copy it to the problem machine. Then run the install for the program.

    Post the info regarding the drivers you need.

    Motherboard is:
    Asus M2N68-LA (HP/Compaq name: Narra2-GL8E)

    First load the motherboard chipset drivers for XP:
    NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 chipset drivers for XP;
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_163.75.html

    Then post back with your results.

    it seems like the motehrboard chipset works great my modem is better i wasnt able to download at a very fast speed but iwth the link you gave me i can download a lot better now, its just the DVD burner drive i need help on. its a litescribe burner , i cant read the lightscribe or the burner, the computer reads it as a dvd reader only not writer.

    For the "dvd burner drive" I would first update the firmware to the latest available;

    DVD firmware;
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIR...are-S755.shtml

    OR

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...os=228&lang=en

    Then try a freeware burner program on the drive;
    http://www.burnworld.com/software/lightscribe.htm
    (NOTE: Not all listed are freeware)

    The sp26944.exe file didn't work? It's for that drive, running in XP.

    See if this applies;
