Cannot Delete file
I have been trying to remove Norton AntiVirus that I got from SBCYahoo from my computer. A tech from SBCYahoo Second Tier Support removed a bunch of stuff, but I was still getting a message from McAfee that Norton AntiVirus was on my computer. Nothing appeared on All Progarms or on the populated list on Remove Programs. I went to the C drive and found C:\Program Files\Symantec which opened to C\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus. When I tried to delete it, I got a message "Cannot delete NavShExt.dll: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that file is not currently in use." I also used the Norton Removal Tool, but it did nothing. Today I spent about a half hour with an SBCYahoo support Tech who seemed to know less than I did. He kicked me up to Priority Support which wants to charge me $99. Any suggestions?

I just inadvertently deleted a tech forum message in my spam file. Can you resend. Sorry.

Welcome to techhelpforum.
Is there currently a McAfee A_V installed and running?
Open Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Del) and in the Processes Tab, if there are any Norton (Symantec) processes running, right click them and "End Process".
Start, Run, type in services.msc and hit Enter. As above, look for any Norton/Symantec services which have started. If found, right click them and choose STOP. Right click them again and choose Properties. Under "Startup type" choose DISABLED.
Restart, then try to delete the annoying files. At this point you may want to run the Norton Removal Tool for your product: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 again.
Post back with your results and any further questions.

Thanks for excellent suggestions. In the services.msc found a Symantec entry that did not show as running, but I disabled it. Still getting same message as before when I try to delete. Am not able to install McAfee because of Norton presence. May just have to bite the bullet and pay Norton to remove, even though I feel this is their defect. Thanks again. Will file the services.msc hint for future reference.

You could try "Move_On_Boot".
I haven't used it yet myself, but when I read good things about it I downloaded and saved it.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. Move_On_Boot removed the file I found. Unfortunately, McAfee still says that Norton Antivirus 2007 is still on my computer. I don't even have any idea where to look further. Will probably have to just ask Norton Customer Support to get rid of it, whatever the cost. I really appreciate your taking the time to be so helpful.

Happy ending. Found another Symantec file in Common Files and deleted it. Then I ran the Norton Removal Tool whcih behaved differently than before. It took several minutes and stated the program had been removed. McAfee is now installed and running. I can't thank you enough for your support.
