    IE7 keeps on Crashing

    Hello All,

I have a user that is having trouble with her IE7. Whenever she opens up the browser it just sits there and doesn't load. OS winxp Here are some of the things I tried:
-removed unwanted programs "google toolbar etc"
    -checked proxy settings
-deleted temp internet files and history etc
    -reset ie7 to defaults
-disabled all addon's then restarted machine
    -spyware scan and virus scan

Whenever I uninstalled ie7 and went back to ie6with sp2 the machine was able to get on to the internet fine. I reinstalled ie7 and it still didn't work but If I would run IE7 with NO ADDON's it would work fine. I believe that is the problem. I was wondering if there is a way to delete the add on's manually? What do you guys think?

I have noticed this too. Sometimes IE7 freezes up too or takes longer the usual to respond. But then again its a newer browser and may still have bugs to be worked out on it. Rule of them, never upgrade anything till after a year or so of being out on the market, especially OS , prime example Vista

There has been a problem with flash player for sometime now. It's a wide spread problem. Just check out the Adobe Forums and see what people have to say.

There are many people reporting this problem for a year now. Apparently Microsoft blames it on Adobe, and Adobe blames it on video and sound cards being non compatible.
Bottom line is nobody is taking responsibility and fixing this serious problem, but instead pushing the blame off on another company. I hear many flash based sites are abandoning it so people don't avoid thier sites anymore. I really hope some other company comes up with a viable flash player alternative, and becomes rich off of this nonsense.

Just forget about IE and install Mozilla Firefox. Its far more stable (I've been using it for about 3yrs now) and it is more secure. The only down side is that you have to use IE for windows updates (not on Vista though) but I live with that on my XP machine.

Try downloading it and see for yourself. If you don't like it, just uninstall it and go back to IE6.

I have been useing IE7 since it was in beta testing. Have never had that problem. I had it on my XP machine(which I have gotten rid of) and it is standard in Vista. There are others out there. The main one that comes to mind is Macromedias flash player.

I have tried IE6 and 7, Firefox, Avant, and Opera. I'm having the same problem with flash in all of them.

Do you have the latest Adobe flash player, Shockwave flash player and or Java updates?

yep, updated all of them. Even tried past versions of flash back to ver 5. Also tried IE6. Same problem no matter what I do. Seems on flash games or videos like youtube, if I turn the quality to low, they play a little longer before it crashes.

Have you tried adjusting the acceleration on the video card? That could be causeing a problem with the video which could be causeing IE to crash. Try that and let us know what happens.

I do have a problem with my video card that I've been trying to figure out. Everything is just fine until I try to play a game. Different objects in the game flicker and blink along with the whole screen quite frequently. Sometimes the games just crash after awhile with no error report. Some games crash even before they fully load.
Flash games are different. They don't flicker at all, they play relatively fine and suddenly crash with an error screen that says flash9e.ocx was in use when the problem occured, and IE has to shut down.
But I don't know what the heck to do! I've reinstalled the forceware for the video card, tried about every different configuration in the NVidia control panel, reinstalled IE, flash, java, tried firefox, opera, avant. The video card is XFX GeForce 8400GS, and XFX's support is terrible. It's like I'm cursed to not be able to play video games.
