monitor problem
well i just bought a acer p221w 22" widscreen and i installed it fine and for the most part it works great with no problems but when i decided to turn off my monitor and then turn it back on i get a message saying "input not supported". it only happens when i turn off my monitor while my pc is running (before i turn it off the monitor is working fine) and get that message when i turn it back on.

Hello, and Welcome to techhelpforum.
Why do you turn off the monitor? It has a built in standby feature. The LED should turn from Green to Yellow (or similar) when the computer is shut down. They are designed to be left "on".
It has to "reset" itself due to the unexpected signal or "No Signal" when you turn it off.

i dont know i guess i just turn it off becuase it seems safer then just letting it go on stand by. but i see what you mean and i guess there is no reason to turn it off and just let it go into stand by.
thanks

Although I agree with leaving the monitor on and simply let it go into sleep mode, there's still something wrong here. Even if it goes back to some default setting after a power down, a wiggle of the mouse or press of a key should signal the graphics card to wake up the monitor, handshake to set the signal type (digital or analog) and resolution. Are you using the digital (DVI) or analog (analog) inputs? What graphics card? Do you have the latest drivers? Is hibernate mode disabled? Is system standby set to "Never"?
If none of the above pan out, I would try that monitor on another computer and if it does it there, I would send the monitor back. I assume your old monitor worked as you expected, right?
