XP Pro desktop background color changes to white when xp pro boots.

    Hello,

Wonder if any of y'all know why my deskop XP Pro monitor background color changes to white when XP gets booted? The color stays as set until XP gets fully running then the color goes white.

Icons work just fine before and affter the color changes. Color cannot be changed while XP Pro is running.

This is my neighbor's PC and it was loaded with junk virus, trojans, adware when he dropped it off; Was able to cleanse all the junk away and find no indication of anything in any more online scans (Trend Micro, Panda, etc,) nor does anything show in Spybot, avg, and a dozen more of those virus trouble programs.

Any ides how I can eliminate this problem?

If this system has had junk on it, it's probably a policy attribute that has been altered. Dial-A-Fix will probably correct it.

Once installed, run it, and at the bottom click on the Policies button. Any things you want fixed, leave the checkmark in the box for that problem, then click Remove. You may have to restart for the changes to take effect.

NO JOY with Dial-A Fix - - PC showed no problems. Monitor problem continues.

    OK.

    1. Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.

    2. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

To select all of the check boxes, click Best Appearance. To clear all of the check boxes, click Best Performance. If you select Restore Defaults, several check boxes are selected. The default selections are determined by your computer's capabilities.
