    Desktop background themes

    Help !!!!
Switched on Laptop this evening and I've lost my desktop picture, so went to select a pic or theme and I cannot access the "Background" menu, it's stuck on colours, which I presume is covering the picture.

    Can anyone help

    Ta

    Hello, and Welcome to techhelpforum.

Have you recently installed any new software or hardware?

Do you have any "Tweak" type programs installed?

Have you tried reloading your display drivers?

    Thanks for your reply Dan
I've not loaded any software or hardware and have reset settings to a date 1 month previous which was well before I've seen this change.
Not sure what a "tweak" type prog is so not downloaded that intentionally.
Thing is the desk pic appears until my desktop icons appear which are on a blue background, so my pic is "underneath" the blue colour.

    Turn off Active Desktop.

Note: Turning off (disabling) Active Desktop prevents you from using some of the desktop wallpaper files that are supplied by Microsoft. Specifically, any JPEG (.jpg) wallpaper files are not displayed when Active Desktop is not turned on. You are limited to bitmap (.bmp) wallpapers only.

To turn off Active Desktop, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click the desktop. A shortcut menu appears.
    2. Select the Active Desktop menu item.
    3. Click to uncheck the Show Web Content menu item.
