Hello,
I wonder if any one else has had problems with messenger:
I have been unable to sign in for the last few days,it would not accept my password. So I eventually opened another account and that works fine albeit after a lot of messing about, the thing is I have lost all my contacts and mail that I had saved in my email folder,on my original hot mail address.
Thanks in advance.
I've heard of this happening to other people. so your not alone, never had the problem myself tho, is there someway to reset your password?
Did you contact MSN tech support for help with your old account? It sounds like you locked yourself out of your account with too many wrong password attempts - commonly caused by the Caps Lock being on.
Since your new account works, it does not seem like it would be a problem on your machine, rather something with your old account. To be on the safe side, I would clear out your browser cache and try it again. CCleaner is great at cleaning the system of 1000s of temporary files, including all history, old logs, and cache files. During installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar. Before first use, go to Options > Settings > Advanced and ensure Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours is unchecked. To delete all "tracking" cookies, (which I urge you do), you must delete all cookies, so ensure the Cookies setting remains checked. Ensure you know your site credentials (user name and password) for sites you frequent; you will have to login again at next visit.
If that does not work, contact tech support. There is no way you can copy your contacts from your old to your new if you cannot access your old. And think about that - would you want someone else to be able access other account contacts without having the correct account credentials?
Thanks for your replies.
First of all I have read on other threads that the cause of the problem is a bug!
I tried changing my password but,the ruddy thing would not accept it.
Secondly isnt internet explorer properties supposed to clear all history etc?
Thanks again for trying to help.
Properties? Properties simply displays the properties - it does not change, add, or delete anything.Secondly isnt internet explorer properties supposed to clear all history etc?
You can, however, delete history, cookies, and Temporary Internet Files from IE's tool menu (the method is slightly different depending on IE version you are using). But by default, they are not automatically deleted, but those defaults can be changed.
If you can't log in, you can't change it. So if you lost/forgot your password AND the answer to the secret question, you are hosed. If you are sure you are correct, then try to contact tech support.I tried changing my password but,the ruddy thing would not accept it.
Do note that you should expect no more than what you paid for!
Sorry I did not make myself clear when I mentioned properties on internet explorer,I have used it to delete all browsing history
I have downloaded CC Cleaner thanks for the recommendation.
It's looks like my contacts and saved mail in my other hotmail account have gone forever![]()
Thanks for trying to help.
No, sorry, but you never used "Properties" to delete your history. "Internet Options", yes. "Properties", no....properties on internet explorer, I have used it to delete all browsing history
Sorry about your saved mail. That's another reason I use a local (PC based) email client, such as Outlook Express, or in my case, Outlook. All my email, contacts, appointments, notes, etc. are on my PC. Works for me. Of course, if you travel, or don't regularly use the same PC, a web based email program may be something you are stuck with.![]()
