I disabled System Restore to free up disk space. It said I was using over 18 gigs for system restore. But after I disabled it, my free disk space did not increase at all.

Can anyone help?

Disabling or turning off will not delete old points.

You can try:

Click Start, point to All Programs | Accessories | System Tools and click Disk Cleanup.

Click OK.
From the Disk Cleanup dialog box, click the More Options tab.
Click Yes to confirm your actions.

Also if you have any other protection programs running they may be protecting those files. They are considered System files and are not easily altered.
