i`m having a hell of a time trying to figure out why the following updates will not install on my computer:

Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)
Office XP Service Pack 3
Office 2003 Service Pack 2
Update for Outlook Junk Email Filter 2003 (KB936643)

can anyone point me in the right direction on what might be the problem.

no messages, the install window pops up, it attempts to load the updates 1 by one and each one lists a "fail".

its quite frustrating and i have to turn off the automatic install because it will make the attempt every day.

just for the info, my "wife`s" computer is 4 years old and i imagine that the updates have never been installed. i`m just beginning embrace computing as a new hobby, so i`m a novice at where to begin to fix these issues.

well i found the culprit. it seems that i had a copy of microsoft office which for some reason was interfering with the update. i loaded the updates manually (omitted office) and all is well.
