    Graphics problem, or is it??

Hey all u guys out there, im new here and im pretty much a retard when it comes to technical stuff with the com.
Now i'll get straight to the point,

my laptop is pretty screwed up, each time i try to clean it up when it gets full of junks and viruses and spywares(restoring or formatting, i THINK im cleaning my laptop up at least), it just goes even slower than before, and ever since the second last time i format my laptop, i start having some graphics problem.

There was once it started off with installation error right at the beginning when i use the CD that comes when i buy the laptop (im not sure if it was the last time or second last time when i format). But anyway, i tried installing some driver stuff from ATI's website(actually i have no idea what im installing/updating at all too).

One thing i do know is the catalyst thingy doesnt work for my laptop too. So now comes the main problem, everytime i try to play some slightly more graphically demanding stuff, usually those 3D stuff, there is like a time bomb ticking, and within the next 15-20min, my laptop will definitely turn off on its own. It's not a proper shut down, it is simply a sudden POOF, power gone.

During the second last time i formatted my laptop, this problem happened even when i play some old stuff like Warcraftlll, but it stopped after i mindlessly downloaded some ATI's stuff and installed them. Now it occurs almost all the time in games that were released within the last 2 years, chinese games, english games, mmorpgs, etc. And recently i tried to install silkroad online(mmorpg) cos the new european race is out, i downloaded this driver file that the website said is required to play SRO. and when i try to run this file and install, it gives me a couple of error. Im listing them down word for word, im typing while installing it.

    1) INF error Video driver not found.
Only 1 option, press OK and.....
2)Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.
Only 1 option, press OK and....
    the installation window closes.

So please tell me what should i do, im a total dumbass so i need a really step by step idiot proof guide lol. Here are some info about my com i hope is enough to help you guys determine the problem.

    This should be the driver:

    http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/mobility-xp.html

Before installing uninstall previous ATI drivers from start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

Thank you for replying , i tried downloading the Installation Verification Sofware and running it. They said this:

    Thank you XXXXXXXX.....
Unfortunately, this software update cannot be installed on your system. Please contact your notebook manufacturer for driver updates.

I can't use catalyst stuffs. Anyway, i've tried using the SYSTEM CD and re-install my chipset and VGA driver, before i ran the file provided by SRO, i get the same error(mentioned in my previous post).

The thing is you do not want the Acer VGA driver. Or you probably already have it.

If you indeed have the ATI card (which would be an add-on) then my first guess is that it is not working. If the driver cannot find it.

    Have you contacted Acer?

Tell them that for some reason your computer is not detecting the ATI card and the ATI driver from ATI cannot find it either.

As Acer is not listed at ATI perhaps they have their own driver for this card. Or if they determine that the card is not functioning perhaps they can replace it.
