I have windows xp operating system. Suddenly the fonts on my desktop ( even in hte letter i'm typing are appearing dual natured. I mean that in a word a few letters are bold whereas rest of them are ordinary letters. How do I rectify this?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Thanks for the solution. I did try that before asking for help. That did not work. But now the fonts are back to normal after i switched the computer off and rebooted it in the morning. Strange, but a fact. Thanks anyway, Aj
