Hi there, great forum. My question is - Each time i turn my computer on and select my log in (i only have the one) the computer automatically make the turning off sound and proceeds to switch itself off. Can you tell me how i can stop this from happining as i am unable to use my pc and its driving me crazy!!! ;o)

Is this a new problem? Any new hardware or software?

Can you get into Safe Mode? Press the F8 key after the BIOS POST but before XP tries to load.

Here you can try "Last known good configuration" or Safe Mode proper followed by System Restore.
