    Outlook 2002 & XP error

    Greetings, When I try to launch Outlook 2002 I get the following error

    "Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook. Outlook Requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater. You can install Outlook express by running IE5Setup.exe fron the IE5 folder locatred on your CD through the Windows Update website"

    My System has WIn XP SP2 which had Outlook Express 6.0 installed already. I have reloaded XP, Outlook and Outlook Express. Still same issue.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    I would suggest repairing OE6 or upgrading to IE7 which will upgrade OE as well. If you have problems repairing:

    If you are having problems only with Outlook Express 6, proceed as follows:

    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]
    Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}
    Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
    Data Type: DWORD // Value Name: IsInstalled
    Setting for Value Data: [Change the Value from 1 to 0]
    Exit Registry

    Ther are several Microsoft pages regarding this error as well as a ton of forum trial and errors as seen in these links:

    Most of these threads run around the same circles and I have found no solution. Sorry.

    You might try posting to one of the above Outlook newsgroups but as you can see the replies from all the MVP's appear to go nowhere but where we've been.

    I don't know why your registry is different than mine. Why you do not have the IsInstalled value.

    That may or may not be the issue. At this point I don't know what to add.
