Restore system _ go back to an earlier time
Hi folks,
Can anyone suggest what to do? I was working on my Philips PC this morning and it was working fine until about lunch-time. I work from home and use Excel to fill cells in,then after about 20 rows the text was not entering into the cells, it would not let me enter text anywhere. I have tried to go back to an earlier date, tried several days and times and it will not 'roll-back'.

Is this problem only in Excel or has the keyboard stopped working everywhere?
Is there any response from the keyboard? Lights? Do you have another to try?
If it is a software problem is it only in Excel or in XP in general?
Does the keyboard work in the BIOS?

Thanks for replying Jephree, and the answer to your questions:-
I have now sorted the keyboard, I found out that after changing the batteries I had to press the start button on the keyboard and then press the receiver button for it to connect. My other problem is that after trying to do a 'roll-back to a previous time, the computer could not do this, and now when I try to open any excel file the windows installer box comes up and wants me to install 'office', which I have tried to do but it comes up with an error. This is an old 'Office CD', could this have something to do with it. But I can now get into 'Word', so it seems all the rest of the software is working right! I have just joined a file sharing website so should I download 'excel' from that, but would I need to uninstall the old version, or would that take all of 'Office' off my pc?
Thanks for replying so promptly.

To reset System Restore right click My Computer then click Properties then open the System Restore tab.
Here turn it off then turn it back on. This will remove all previous point but should reset the service for the future.
Most Microsoft software will not install if it detects a more recent version already installed. Updates make a more recent version. I am not sure if you can install Excell independent of Office. If you have the Office CD to reinstall you probably need to uninstall the current version.
Another possibility is to use this tool and see if you can delete any Office or Excell files in the Installer list:
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
