GOING BONKERS PLEASE HELP! - Recording/Soundcard/Audio HELP!
Hello to all, and thank you for taking the time to read my question, and hopefully respond to it
Where do i start?!
I have no idea why, but no matter what i do, I can NOT get a microphone to work or record or even use it for voice chat etc on my computer. NO matter what i do! I have googled and read and researched til I can do it no more. I have ran all the tests I can possibly run, I have been into all the sections I can possibly go to and still no luck! I have checked that everything is set up right, there are no conflicts. So as i am not very computer savvy to be honest, I just assume it's a sound card issue or whatever? I have checked that all the devices and driver thingies are working correctly and according to my computer... everything is working correctly and ok.
All the sounds work on the computer clearly and ok. No problems with playing cd's or the computer sounds themselves etc. Game sounds work clearly ok etc. And i can hear other people in voice chat etc too.
I have looked back and forth for about 2 hours through the posts in this forum, to no avail
I think I am the only one in the whole world with this problem
*sobs for dramatic effect* I am seriously going bonkers lol
I KNOW for a fact that a microphone has worked on this computer before. This was before a brand spankin new motherboard and power box thingy was put in, but I am sure I have had a mic work on it after that... can't recall to be honest. SOOO i have been into whatever i can about that, but i have no idea. I tried to find the driver for the soundcard and motherboard but to be honest i have NO idea what I am doing and I really don't know if its the right one. As i had this insane hope that if i uninstalled and reinstalled the driver thingy it will all of a sudden magically work! (yes, i am obviously insane lol). I am wary of what I do because I do not have the discs for xp. I guess I should have them as I paid for the @@@@ thing to be resinstalled when I got my new motherboard dooby thing in. Maybe I was ripped off, who knows!
I have bought a brand spankin new microphone and headphone thingy, as I tried a seperate new mic and speakers and it still didnt work, so I thought that buying another new thingy, it would work. (I am dillusional - I realise this lol)
PLEASE HELP!! I am truly going nuts.
I did a scan thingy that I saw in some of the posts.. the belarc thingy and some other one. Now I can t seem to copy paste the belarc stuff so that it displays correctly (it's all jumbled) I have no idea how I am to put it on here so you can see how crap my computer is lol (it was custom made by who knows, and then bought for my late father in law and has been looked at twice since and fixed - hence new motherboard and such).
Now when I got this computer repaired maybe 5 months ago, the computer man at the store said its a good computer, so i don't get why this is happening? Could I have accidently broken something I wonder, although I dont know how!
Ok.. so... I have done a screen copy thing of what I see of the belarc thingy, and saved it as a jpeg thingy, then attached it to this thingy, as i dont know how to paste it without it being all jumbled up. Hope this is visable!! I didnt know if you would need to see the Installed Microsoft Hotfixes bit? So i just showed whatever my computer has.. the basics.. if more is needed I shall show that too
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated and I am sincerely sorry if I have rambled on a bit too much with this
Thank you

Let's try and ID the motherboard as Belarc is just showing the chipset.
Try CPU_Z
What is listed under Mainboard > Manufacturer and Model
The manufacturer's drivers would be a first good try.

jephree got here while I was away searching..... (He's fast, with a fast machine.) Anyway, my searches turned up;
According to this (P800-8237) spec. the sound device is Realtek ALC655 6-Channel audio CODEC - Compliant with AC´97 2.3 specification
http://www.icuepc.com/www/productdetail.asp?did=351
If the ID from jephree matches the below (it should), this driver package should get it going;

Or this;
