Need help to run check disk...
Hey if any one can help it would be awesome......well I'm trying to run check disk on a laptop with windows xp cd. But when I try to run the repair it asks for the andministrator password. Which I don't think the laptop has but I do not know it. I have tried just enter but that doesn't work. So I ran another boot disk to change the administrator account password. So I thought that would help but the password doesn't stick or something because i tried to enter the new password I set for it and it did work either...so i don't know what else to do... please help...

If you set no Admin account password then pressing Enter should work.
You do not need to enter the Recovery Console to run check disk however.
Go to start Run... cmd
Then type chkdsk /f
You will be told the volume is in use: do you want to run on next boot?
Type Y and reboot.

hey....well thank you I didn't know you can run check disk that way...but the problem is that the laptop doesn't boot to windows. It gives me an error but i can't see what it says it goes to fast...but yeah then it just loops and starts over again...I tried to boot in safe mode but that didn't work either. neither did the last known configuration...

What is the make and model of the laptop?
Are you using the XP CD provided by the laptop manufacturer?

lol yeah my bad  ...i'm new at this whole form thing....I thought i had fixed that ....but ne ways nice to met you my name is Savane and right now i don't have the laptop with me and no i'm using another cd that is not for any specfic manufacturer and cause this is the second time i run into this problem....

In general you cannot use a Microsoft XP CD or any other XP CD except what the manufacturer provided. This is known as an OEM installation of XP and it is proprietary to the manufacturer of the laptop. Many manufacturers include hotkeys to avoid using CD's such as F10 is often used.
If you know the make and model of the laptop we can look up the manufacturer's web site for details on recovery options.

HP/Compaq have a pretty good interactive support center.
Find your model and select your region and many troubleshooting options will appear:

Let us know if you find the model and we can help look about.
I would suspect that you will need to run a Repair Install of XP but again this process depends on what HP model you have.
In general there is this:
HP Notebook PCs - Repairing or Reinstalling Windows XP with the HP Operating System Disc
