My parents are driving me mad! They live in France and bought an HP Pavilion Slimline m7610 running windows XP Media Center 2005. It is all in french and they can't change it to english. Talked them through the regional settings boxes and rebooted but no joy. What else can I get them to try or what can I buy/borrow to send over to them? Please help. Thank you.

Unfortunately these are basically two different operating systems.

The French version is French and the English is English; German: German etc.

There is no conversion.

They would need a new XP in English.

All the regional settings do is alter or add fonts and some keyboard shifts for special characters. They have no affect on the underlying operating system which is language specific.

If they recently bought this computer unaware of that they might be able to exchange it for an English one.
