    Windows Restart

    I bought a laptop with Vista on it. I removed Vista and installed XP Home. Install works ok but at the end, it freezes during restart. I shut it down and start it OK. Every time I do a restart, it freezes prior to shut down. I have 1 Gig of Ram, 80 Gig HDD, Win XP Home. It's an Acer 5610

    Just to clarify:

    You have successfully installed XP Home but when you try to restart or shutdown it freezes? Is that correct?

    Have you loaded SP2? Also some ideas on this page:

    It only freezes when restarting. Shutdown is OK.

    Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.

    Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:
