I have been running Windows XP pro for years now. I run XP on 2 SATA hard drives raided as one. (It always shows as one big HD) Yesterday I installed windows VISTA on an 3rd IDE hard drive. Vista works great but I can no longer get back to my XP, there are no dual boot options when my computer loads. While logged into Vista it shows I have 3 seperate hard drives. Vista has taken over my "C" drive and left me with "D" and "E" which use to be together as my "C". I have completly taken my IDE hard drive out(vista), and left my old arrangment in. Now when I try to boot it says BootMGR missing.

Anyone have a clue? Thanks.

PS My main goal is to get my old XP to boot again, without reinstalling.

Someone on a different forum told me I should boot the Vista CD, choose the repair option and go to command promt to do this "\boot\bootsect /nt52 c:". I did this, restarted and now instead of my "missing BootMGR" I get "A disk read error occurred."

I'd suggest going into your BIOS Setup then the BOOT tab and BOOT MENU (or order).

Highlight the HDD line and put your XP HDD on top of the list.

This might also trigger your BIOS to offer a Boot Menu in the future after Power On.

Most BIOS Setups are accessed via the Delete key after Power On.

I have been there and done that. Ever since I have installed Vista my computer has been showing my RAID drives as two seperate drives. I think this might have something to do with it, Im working on that.
