Why isn`t my computer when switched on won`t load windows
but it does in safe mode.

Did you try from the Safe Mode options to Start Last Known Good Configuration?

Also you can try in Safe Mode a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore

If still no luck do you have your XP CD? If so try the Recovery Console and try to run the command FIXBOOT

for your prompt reply
I did put my recovery disc in but cancelled it as it would have formatted the drives
so what i did i let the pc run until it righted its self and it did after an hour lol
then rebooted to make sure it was ok and it was fine
don`t know how long for tho

Most XP CD's have an option prior to a format/re-install to use the Recovery Console.

This of course depends on the manufacturer of the CD. I assume that you have an OEM CD i.e. XP was pre-installed on your computer?
