    STOP: 0x0000009C (0x00000004

    Does your motherboard support USB2?

If so does it support it in all ports?

    Thank you for your response

I do not know how to check the above, can you run me through it|?
I did take out the USB2 last nlght to try it out, and the same stop message came up.
I was downloading at the time.
Could it be that my computer is overheating, hence this message comes up?
or if the internet signal is lost while downloading, could that have the same effect.
I have a AMD Athlon (tm) 64 Processor with 1.80 GHz 1.00 GB of RAM
    please help!

Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.

Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

Also if your STOP error is showing a memory dump do the following:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.
If no .dmp files check for minidump.
Remember this location and the path that leads to it.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the

    Debugging Tools from Microsoft

All you need do is download and install this. Make no attempt to start or run it.

    2) Download and install this

    debugwiz

This is a DOS based batch file that will command the above Microsoft Tools.

    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.

    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

    Hi,
I have downloaded the above as suggested, I do not have too much confidence in applying it though.
Red Errors read 6 at 2:04 4/01/07 source reads side by side Cat reads None
Event 26, 58, 61, 59, 58, 61 User N/A also Red Error 1/01/07 04:54 Source Service Control Cat None Event 7023 User N/A does this mean anything to you? I downloaded the 32 Bit debug.
Please let me know the order, to in which to set about this issue.
The mimidump applied but the location path was in Wordpad and seems to bi in code, so I do not know what to do there.
As yo can tell I am not to up to speed with the technical side.
Please get back to me ASAP
    cheers

Hi, (This is a repeat email)
I have downloaded the above as you suggested, I do not seem to be getting very far though.
Lised are the Red cross errors:

Red Errors number 6 in all, at 2:04 4/01/07 source reads side by side Cat reads None
Event 26, 58, 61, 59, 58, 61 User N/A also Red Error 1/01/07 04:54 Source Service Control Cat None Event 7023 User N/A does this mean anything to you?

I have downloaded the 32 Bit debug 6.6.0007.5 version

Can you please explain again in laymans terms what to do, in a way that I can understand, now that I have downloaded the tools.

Incidently the mimidump was applied but the location path was in Wordpad and seems to be in code that I do not recognize.

As you can no doubt tell I am a novice at this, but I am eager to learn.
I hope that you can spare the time to get me through this.
Thank you for your help so far, please get back to me ASAP
    cheers

If you ran the Debug Wiz then post (copy/paste) the contents of the wordpad.

Again: do nothing with the Microsoft program just run the Debug Wiz.

    Hi,
    You say
If you ran the Debug Wiz then post (copy/paste) the contents of the wordpad.

Again: do nothing with the Microsoft program just run the Debug Wiz.

What do I copy/paste? I copied and pasted the notepad and this came up.

    Opened log file 'c:\debuglog.txt'

Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.6.0007.5
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    Loading Dump File [C:\sxs.dll]
Could not open dump file [sxs.dll], Win32 error 2
"The system cannot find the file specified."
    What was supposed to happen?
    cheers

The Wiz should start like this:

    Opened log file 'c:\debuglog.txt'

Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.6.0007.5
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    Loading Dump File [C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini010407-01.dmp]
I don't know why C:\sxs.dll was chosen but you should be browsing to: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini010407-01.dmp or a similar .dmp log.

    Hi,
Thank you for that I typed into debugWiz (top part.) C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini010407-01.dm into the dump file

    C:\Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows\cdb.exe (middle part)
and a message came up you need to hit both browse buttons before running logs.
I am still very confused, and you must be getting fed up with me.
    I hope not.
Where do I put the link C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini010407-01.dmp or a similar .dmp log.
    cheers
    Max
