XP not booting after Partition Magic work
Good day, I installed Partition Magic on one of my computers the other day with the intent of merging the c and d partion. I started with converting both partions to NTFS from FAT or FAT 32, I can't remember. That went well. I could reboot, etc. I tried to merge the two partitions but received an error that said I had a cluster size mismatch. I attempted to match both, and wound up adjusting the C drive. Windows started to make the changes, then stopped and said something about an error. It attempted to reboot, then hangs every time at the "boot from CD failure" line. I can access DOS. I have an upgrade version of XP home that had been installed. I had 98 installed, and didn't keep the disk after the installation, which is a probloem in itself. When I insert the XP disk, it appears to want to install an new instance of the S/W, which I don't want to do. Any ideas how to get me back to the state I was in before the cluster adjustement? I hope I haven't ruined the current instance, I would hate to loose programs, links, etc. I saved some of the stuff from the D drive before I made the changes but didn't get everything I wanted saved. I appreciate the help. Caven
