you may have to buy a mouse or some other piece of hardware

win 98 and ME are no longer supported by M$

I am in the UK Brain (Bath), I just havn't got round to filling all my details in yet.
I don't quite understand the mouse bit Brain, :erm:
I already have the 98/ME OEM software so I could install that first, but is the XP upgrade cheaper and would the upgrade work as well as the OEM XP install (I know it would be more hassle too)?

Thank you for the Ebuyer link .

You have been a great help and are a credit to this site.
    Thank you

the mouse bit, sometimes they wont sell a OEM version unless you buy some hardware so a mouse usually does.

in bath you may have a local independent PC Shop that may have stocks of the OEM version (OEM is a lot cheaper than the retail but you don't get fancy box)

make sure you have the COA to prove it's not been used before

normally the upgrade version is more expensive

    Thank you Brain.

I have purchased the OEM XP from Ebuyer along with a DVD+-RW drive and some blank DVD's so the Brother-in-law can back up all his files before it goes bang next time (11Gb of ipod tracks alone).

Once again, thank you for your help. You are a credit. :notworthy:

it's easier to find a track I've got about 600 CDs, some I play a lot other very rarely
