Are you trying to boot XP?

    Was it working previously?

Do you have your XP CD?

Can you please describe exactly what you are trying to do?

XP has no DOS capability. What are you trying to do with DOS?

Are you using NTFS boot disks? If you're using a standard Win9x boot disk, and your (main) hard disk (that you're trying to access) is formatted as NTFS, the "DOS" boot disk won't find it.

If you can boot into XP (& you have your XP CD) you can install the "full" Recovery Console, and then modify it to give yourself some "power" while using it. (MS gives you very bare-bones capabilities with it. In order to use it effectively, you need to make a few changes.)

If you're competent in DOS you should be fine in NTFS. Some commands require different syntaxes but many commands are the same.

Post back with answers and if you want to use the XP command line outside of XP.
