    Windows / Office XP "activation"

    Hi,

I am new to this forum, but I was hoping somebody could shed some light on something. I have copies of Windows XP and Office XP, and I installed and activated them on an older computer of mine. I recently decided to build a new computer for myself, so I scavenged some old parts from my old computer and finished building it yesterday. I just installed XP, but not surprisingly I cannot activate it on the new machine because I've already activated it once on the old machine. I'm assuming Office XP will give me the same problem.

I can think of many, many situations where software reinstall could come up ... XP gets unstable, or you change hard drives, or you just want to do a clean OS reinstall, and you have to install / activate the same XP copy multiple times (same goes for Office). Does MS not support this scenario at all? Are you forced to either buy new versions of the products to get new CD keys, or crack the installations? (using methods such as ones described below in some posts on this forums)

I would rather not do either of the above. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You just need to call Microsoft and explain what you are doing.
