    Question desktop background

On my desktop tab in "Display Properties" on Control Panel, the background tab is disabled. How do I enable it? (I'm a rookie).

You can save and run this fix from kellys korner. Just save the file to wherever you like. Once its downloaded double click it to re enable the desktop background. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...aperenable.reg

Have you rebooted the computer since running that? Is this a home computer or work (part of a network)?

Yes, I did reboot, even ran it a second time, but no luck. It's a home computer (Gateway). I know this is just cosmetics, but it really bugs me!

    Hi Karen,
I hope you found your answer in the link provided by jephree Lots of info there
As a note of interest:very often ,clicking or double clicking on a reg file will not give any results.
The reason is that on a lot of systems the reg extension has not been properly associated.
Instead,r-click the file and select "Merge" from the menu.
You will then be asked if you want the contents of the file to be merged into the Registry.Click OK.That should do it in most cases.
