    Hi Logan,
Yes your message was read,at least by me but I'm surprised that nobody answered.
As an aside: I'm not the Administrator,so I can't tell you what to do ,but in general it is advisable not to "double post".
If you do at all, because you may have posted in the wrong category for example, show the URL.(Just copy & paste) like this:

As to your question:It looks to me that possibly the audio sockets are mis-identified.Use the socket for the speakers that will give you sound, regardless if it says "microphone".
There are normally 3 sockets:Micr.(low level input);Line input(higher signal level) and Speaker (Output)
Do the sockets have a color?
Also there is no way to configure a microphone socket as an "output" or speaker socket, except by physically moving the connections on the sound card or motherboard.
Make sure you select the right Audio system under Sounds
(Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Properties.
Use the Audio tab and Voice tab for the settings.
In general,go through all the settings in the audio section.

You should also have an audio or speaker icon in the systray.
    Set the levels there too.
    Hope this helps.

    Pete.
