I am trying to connect a timer to my pc, which is on a LAN and contains a database that is used by a web service. I have the timer connected to the machine via a serial cable (9 Pin female (DB9) to 9 pin female (DB9)) with the following configuration: Pin 2-Pin 3, Pin 3-Pin 2, Pin5 -Pin 5.

Here is the problem:

I try to connect the timer to the executable that was created for it to get data from it and it tells me that the comm port is not available, is in use, or whatever. What would cause this? I have looked at my Task Manager and it shows nothing being used.

I would appreciate any help you could give me.
