Increasing Notebook Screen Resolution

Increasing Notebook Screen Resolution
I have a Compaq Presario notebook I think it is R4100 series well there is the problem. I use this machine to play poker and I would like to play up to 4 tables at the same time hopefully all displayed with no overlap. Right now at 1280x800 resolution it can display a max of 2 tables and there is still some overlap. If I increase the resolution past this point it doesn’t reduce the size of what I am displaying like it should. It simply displays the 4 game screens like I want it to do (no overlap) but I have to scroll up and down and left and right on my screen to see the whole thing. So that is the problem, my question is what is the most cost effective way to solve this? FYI I also have a 32” LCD TV/monitor that I run S-video through (from laptop). I thought this would solve the problem but either I don’t know how to utilize it effectively or it doesn’t. So should I buy an external monitor with high resolution and run my laptop through there or should I upgrade my laptop’s resolution? How do I do that ? Better video card?
Thanks for your help,
Tony

Hi Russ, I am unsure of this problem as it is hard to picture what you want to do exactly, but as I do quite a lot of graphics, I like a resolution around 1280X1024, and I get even higher on my latop. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your Vid Card, and install them correctly. Try and Up the resolution through the control of the Video Card Program rather than XP.
Nvidia is good to tweak.
The only problem you might get, if this works, is that the writing gets very small, but you will learn to adjust, and you can alter fonts to be more readable with a bit of tweaking.
If this fails, I hope someone with more knowledge in hardware can help you.
