    Problem loading desktop icons

Hi. This problem started about 2 weeks ago. When booting up the taskbar loads first and my wallpaper shows. After a delay my desktop goes to blue and the desktop icons are loaded. After this my wallpaper returns. I even reinstalled SP2.

Previously the desktop icons loaded first and then the taskbar.
I am using XP home SP2

Does anybody out there know how to fix this?

That sounds like a slow bootup to me. Check what is loading up at boot time by typing "msconfig" into run.

Your desktop is showing "blue" because that is the color you probably have selected "under" the desktop. Right click on desktop->Properties->Desktop->color........and you can select any color to see.

You are not seeing the blue screen of death

I also suggest you defrag your system...and clean out temp and junk files.....a good program for this is called "CCleaner", a free download....just google it.....comes up almost straight away.

But what is starting up when you boot up is probably causing a slow boot and the desktop to sort of self refresh.
Things like Quicktime, messengers..both Yahoo and MSN, these things can be set NOT to start at boot time.

Hope this starts you out on fixing your problem.
