Lately everything seems to be wrong with my computer! Random pop ups when internet explorer isnt even open. things trying to download, icons on my desktop i didnt put there internet running slow. My computer not even responding when i click on something . i got this computer for christmas and it is was a brand new Dell dimension E510 Win XP media center edition. everything was running great, I had SBC yahoo DSL for internet. but then i switched to Roadrunner, and everything went wrong. i had to delete all my sbc yahoo applications including virus scanner/firewall/ spyware scanner etc. which left my computer vulnerable. so i turned my computer off until the people that were installing roadrunner came. they got there and installed it...i looked around on my screen...looked in the start menu....and it seems roadrunner does not come with any security whatsoever! Thats when everything starting going bad. i installed some free spyware scanners but it seemed to make things worse. My windows firewall was also overrided, i have no way to turn it on at all and thats what makes me the most mad:nope: . But i have got to say the most annoying problem i have now is my internet connectino.....it is very slow and roadrunner is supposed to be fast!! WHen i click on something to go to the next site it just sits there like its not doing anything...i have to click over and over again for it to start then i wait 5 minutes and click again and it goes to the next site automatically.:nervous: please help me. i want my fast computer back!

The first thing is to check for viruses and spyware go here to panda and get a free virus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/product...ACHEHINT=Guest

do you have antivirus if not get these free programes
AVG7 antivirus http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

Spyware programes
Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

SpyBot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Update the programes immediatley, then go into Safe Mode ( press F8 at boot up ) and run the programes from there, clean out all they find.

Turn on Windows Firewall

Once your comp is clean, you should be able to turn on the Win Firewall, if not then just post again, free Firewalls are available.
