Hi, just recently ive had troubles installing some programs, downloaded a driver update for my videocard and i cannot install it, as soon as it gets to the instal part the program closes and i get an error report box, no details on the code or anything, this also happens with some other .exe files i have downloaded, also notice that programs will encounter an error and close too now... done several virus checks and spyware, anyone got any ideas? any help would be much appreciated its driving me crazy lol

have you installed anything recently that you can remeber just before you started getting these problems?

Also if you have your disc handy you can do a repair, you would lose only your critcal updates which you would need to install again.

There is 2 ways to do a repair with XP

Place your disc in the drive reboot (make sure cd rom is first boot device) wshen you reboot allow XP disc to do its thing, when you get to the part were it asks would you like to repair or install XP choose install XP, alls fine the next page will offer you the chance again for repair, now choose repair, it will seem like a fresh install so you will need your product key but when it is done about 20 minutes you will need to reinstall critcal updates but your computer should be working fine..
