Hiya Marc
Go to start and right click on my computer. Select properties> hardware> device manager. Scroll down the list and find your sound card. It will probably have a yellow ! at the side of it. Double click on your sound card and select the Driver tab at the top. Click on install driver (possibly update driver) and follow the instructions. When it asks where to look for the driver direct it to your CD drive. Insert your windows xp pro disk. XP will now scan the disk for your sound driver.
If this doesn't work you will need to go the website of your sound card manufacturer and download the drivers from there. Save the drivers on your desktop. Go through the above again but point it to the file on your desktop when it asks where to look for the driver.

What make and model is your comp, with that information you can get the audio driver from the manufacturers site. if you don't know then get Belarc AdvisorOriginally Posted by marcbowden
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html (free) copy and then paste in post, but don't post the Software License section. if a yellow ! shown under multimedia devices, this means no sound driver installed.
Hope this helps![]()

Oh and i had real trouble with the logon too,as in i couldn't  .
error report from microsoft trouble shooter suggested C-media conflict and Nvida graphic card driver conflicts .(Is this making sense to you?, cos i'm lost ).
I've resorted to disabling all sound drivers and removal of Nvida drivers so that i can logon to windows .I'm not to up on this tech stuff but i can follow instructions.
Help please .Karac.
There are 4 versions of this board and 2 different audio drivers, as Win quotes C-media then the driver is CMI9738, go here to ECS to get the driver http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=45&LanID=9Originally Posted by karac
Set a System restore Point before installing driver just in case
thanks for the quick reply
