Well that was easy, thanks ,see what you need to know Tuatha ??:armed:
ihope this works too:biglaugh: .
Karac.
karac, your board is K7S5A v1.0 and has the SiS 7012 PCI audio
Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Then go here to ECS to get the driver, it's a zip file, save to desktop, unzip and you will find a Setup file with the Install Shield launcher
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=45&LanID=9
Hope this helps![]()
Hey Tuatha;
Well i got the update and guess what ?
Yep, still no sound .This is starting to feel a bit permanent.
I thought of doing another format on the hard drive (start over again).
But the disc is sp1 and sp2 is on my system,it will not let me touch it ,i got the updates on line .Is there a way of saving the running system on disc complete with updates so a could try a re-format ??.
yes i am desperate does it show.
Karac.
How did you install, through Device Manager or by double clicking the Install Shield file, did the file open. Can you check if sound is enabled by going to Device manager / sound, video & Game controllers / is Sis 7012 shown, if it is / right click - does it show Update driver - Disable - Unistall .Originally Posted by karac

thanks for your patience and tolerance ,but my problems are growing with every download and update now .
I have a white screen background to all web browsing ,no sound and mutiple conflicts within the OS.I there for give up with this and i am going to format the hard drive again !this may not be wise but at least i'll have a start point from which we could load system friendly programs see you soon ,i hope .Karac.:lovefx:
It is good to be among friends :grouphug:
Corrected display fault and web browser is normal, running sp1 os.
Going to update to sp2 now.see ya soon.
Karac.
Had a thought ! what if something is switched off like the onboard sound card.
So i checked all i can find is this 'onboard: sound AC'97 audio' in the Bios and it is enabled ??
Is there anywhere else a could try ?
Oh and could you tell me the route to 'start programs' after they're installed (not sure if i'm in the right place ).
thanks Karac ,losing hope.
What make and model is your computer. The system I use, is that in the Folder My Documents I have created a folder and named it Downloads, everything I download goes into that folder so I know exacally where to find them. The other way is when you Save to Disc check the path of the installation. if you can't find a file then go to Start / Search / All files & folders / then enter anything you rember in the search boxes and click Search. If the file is found then make a note of the path.Originally Posted by karac

As far as start programs, do you mean the program protion of the start menu or teh programs that start up when you start the comp?
For the start menu part, c:\Documents and Settings\{user name or all users if you want it to show to everyone}\Start Menu\Programs
For Startup programs, Start > run > type "msconfig" > click on the startup tab and disable what you want.
There are also numerous startup programs out there that are a little more friendly for the computer illiterate. The spyware program called Ad-Aware has a decent startup utility and also keeps your comp clean of adware and spyware.
As far as your sound problem, I had the same thing happen with mine when I last reformatted. I have no clue how I fixed it though. One day I installed something that had nothing to do with sound, and when I fired it up, I got the windows alert "beep" at full blast. My head was right by my speakers too.. ouch. Hope you can get it figured out soon. Aint no fun with no sound.
