    Windows Logo Freeze

It's not every day I post about a computer problem, but I am lost.

I recently restarted and then this happened. All it does is restart, and then boots into Windows and then all it displays is the blue background with the windows logo. It does no more.

    Things I have tried:
    All safe modes.
Recovery console's checkdisk bootcfg /rebuild and status.

Any advice? I am really lost.

    Thanks

Edit...Reinstalling/formatting is not really an option for me as I have a lot of precious data...

Have you changed anything recently? What are the specs of your computer?

Everything is the same as always, all I did was restart. And the specs, honestly I don't know. I don't keep them memorized

    But:

    512 MB DDR RAM
    2.0 GHz Intel
    128 MB ATI 9600 XT
    XP Home (SP2)
    40 GB HDD - Primary 160 GB - Add.

    Anything else?

/me never understood the need for specs

Well sometimes there is a common hardware conflict.

Try pressing the ESC key during startup to close the Windows logo screen.

Well, I don't think that'll happen unless the hardware was recently changed, at least from my experience.

    And ESC didn't work.

I think I should add that everything works...mouse, caps lock etc.

What startup programs (that you can remember) do you have? (eg. Norton antvirus, Sygate firewall... ect)

Are you saying you can move the mouse around?

Yes, I can move my mouse around.

About the only thing I have is Winamp and Freedom (my anti-virus).

Try hiting ALT+TAB and see if there are any other windows there, also try ALT+CRTL+DEL see if that window pops up. I remember having a simmilar issue a while back and I had to restart the "explorer.exe" process.

    Hmm... very weird issue Tyler.

Try booting from your XP CD, go into console recover mode(Think that is what it is called, not sure.), and type in this: "sfc /scannow"
