Take a look here, it's a repair install but also gives instruction on recovery consul and what files need to be installed if no repair option available http://www.mcse.ms/archive59-2004-11-1255289.htmlOriginally Posted by Tyler
one thing that is mentioned, is if the partition on the HD that has the system installed may be full.

Well I finally got it working. I never did get repair working, so I just did a fresh reinstall - by accident. I lost a good amount of files, but its nice being back and not on the bad laptop.
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it.
/me hasn't installed the spell checker - so please excuse spelling errors
Glad you got it working Tyler!
Tyler, I had a feeling that may be what had to happen. Sorry you lost filesI still worry about IE7........the symptoms came on the same as they did with my card reader...stalls at bootup...
Glad you are back on your PC![]()

Why is it that we techies advise people to backup every week and then go and neglect it ourselves (well, me and Tyler seem to)?
Thanks Rob, Ana

I bearly ever backup my laptop files. On my desktop I have a separate HD for all of my files -- away from the OS HD.Originally Posted by Vidster
But yeah, we advise people, then we lose our files when something like this happens. :P
Yes Vidster..........guilty......:rofl2: .....I lost a pile of data through IE7's mess. AND there is a 200GB back up drive that I always MEAN to back up to at the end of the day, and I think to myself "Ah, it can wait until the next day"........right.......Originally Posted by Vidster
