If you have the CD ROM drivers it might be a good idea to re-install them. From the link Jim gave you, it appears that your CD ROM driver files have been corrupted or removed. Have you uninstalled Adaptec Easy CD Creator recently?

    Thanks,

I am sure there is a way to get your drives back unless they have died. Unfortunately i'm not sure how to do it without performing a repair install :?

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of this will be able to help soon.

Cant's really advise more on what others have said, but for the HP I would go to the site, type in your drive name and serial# and get a driver for it that is up to date. Uninstall any other driver for this, reboot, and then back to the device manager and install the new driver. Reboot.

If you have already done this in this sequence, please disregard. I know nothing about the Philips, but the procedure would be the same.
