    Uninstalled program still shows up

    Hello
When I start my laptop just before I get to the Windows XP logon screen, I get a black screen for at least 30 seconds, then I get a picture of a program called Tradestation. I used msconfig and cleared out everything I even uninstalled the program Tradesation, but that picture keeps showing up and I still get that blank screen delay before the XP logon screen. I'm not shure if it’s the cause of my slow boot time but how do I stop that picture form showing up?
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum jojo

The black screen is almost certainly your computer booting up. There will probably be an option in your bios to replace the black screen with your computer manufacturers logo if you wanted too. 30 seconds isn't bad really

Tradestation: What method did you use to uninstall the program?
If it is still in your program menu, check to see if there is still an uninstaller with it. If not, go to start>control panel>add/remove programs. Look for the program in the list and uninstall it from there.

Let us know if it works

Hi Vidster, Thanks for the help.

I was able to cut the black screen time a little by disabling some unneeded services. So I pretty happy with the boot time.

I used start>control panel>add/remove programs to remove tradestation. The program is no longer in the program menu or anyplace on the computer (at least I can’t find any trace of it). But a picture of it (Tradestation) still keeps showing up just before the Windows XP logon. I can't figure out how to get rid of it.:?:

There is a program that will show you all the programs running on your computer at startup but i've forgotten what it's called :?
    Maybe another member knows?

You might also be able to stop it using Hijack This. Go to the Hijack This forum and follow the instructions to post a log

    Quite a few. :P

    msconfig
    StartupList
    HijackThis

Personally, I would recommend Hijackthis or StartupList. They are from the same author, so both should work just fine.

If none of those help, it might have jsut changed your default load screen. I have a program that replaces my winxp boot screen. It's called bootskin. You can get it at http://www.wincustomize.com. It may allow you to reset it back to th default, or you can just set it to something else. I have the windows xp l33t edition screen and used to use the commador 64 screen.
