    Hey starting windows problem

I have a XP SP2, and im running on a compaq thats from 2001. Anyway, for the past couple of days ( maybe a week or more ) I can't seem to turn off my computer without having it to be a hassle to turn it back on. Like, if i were to turn off my computer, everything starts up normally and right when it goes to the Welcome screen it shows my desktop ( like the backround my icons and everythign ) then it flashes, and restarts my computer but before it restarts it goes to a blue screen saying there is a error and the computer has been turned off to prevent damage. And bascially im in safe mode with networking right now not knowing what to do. The only thing that worked to fix this problem before was to run my Ad-Aware SE personal edition, and my Spy Bot which when i ran it on safe mode with networking fixed it before, but now its not working. So bascially i need to get back on normal windows. I'm on the computer alot and im goign crazy since i can't use it ! I'm also pretty n00bish to somethings people might say like im not used to the computer lingo as they might say it but i do need this problem fixed. Thanks in advance.

just a lil quick note, i posted that at like 8:45 and like now its 9:09 and i figured im done with my computer right now and like i just figured ok well let me restart it once more and if it dosent work well ima turn it off and go watch t.v but hey it let me on so im on windows normally now but can someone help me for future refrence, and on the blue screen it says something like error : x000000,4 and like so on somethin like that maybe it'll help.

If it happens again, please write down and post the exact blue screen error code and please include the specific model of computer, whether you added or uninstalled any new programs, hardware, etc..my advicewould be to back up your hard drive immediately...
