    Weird time issue...

Well, I've been having this problem with my computer. Its about 3 years old, and whenever I set the time via windows, after I reboot the time resets. I asked a friend and he said it was most likely the battery on the motherboard, however upon closer inspection I didn't see an (obvious) battery. Anybody else have suggestions?

Hmm.......... As far as i am aware, all motherboards have a battery somewhere Alex. It's the only way it could remember info like time/date that i know of.

are you turning the power to your pc off via a surge strip or something of the like?

No Jimmerson, I have a UPS actually. The computer has not lost power in over 2 or 3 months.
I'll go hunt for that battery again. Weird that I could not find it.

It can be tricky to locate the battery, mine is hidden behind my video card beside the slot (a round shiny silver battery).

I'll take another look. If it is the battery, how will I know what to replace it with? (what kind of battery).

Try taking it out for a minute or two, putting it back in. I can't even imagine how old your PC is for the battery to "die".

It will have a number on it tho most CMOS batteries are good for 5 years...have you tried synching time with the internet servers?
