Hiya all you techie friends out there,
I have just recieved an email from a friend in the states and wondered if anyone on here can help her please. I have copied her letter to me , here it is :-


I have a problem with my computer and I hope someone can tell me how to solve. It will not let me delete anything. It won't delete using the delete key or using the mouse to delete. It is still working on everything else except it won't let me delete. I can go any place in my in folder an click on an item and it comes up with no problem. I tried deleting them one at a time and in a group but it didn't make any difference. I have XP. I have all of these messages coming in and I need to have this problem solved. Please help if you can. Try booting in safe mode and then try deleting those files.

thanks Rob ,I have emailed your suggestion to her, I am waiting for her reply. We are in the UK (Sheffield) so we have a time zone difference

Safe mode will probably solve the problem, but may only be temporary. Try doing a start->Rub->sfc /scannow [watch the space between the sfc and the /

It appears like there is an XP corruption of sorts. I hope all the usual virus scans and adaware scans have been performed, but this sounds more like an explorer corruption to me.......
