Hi,

I'm trying to delete a trojan (vundo.b) that has put a dll in the windows dir and I cannot delete it under normal windows operation. So I went to safe mode but there I only get a blank screen with no icons and no way to get to the start menu. The screen has the words "safe mode" in every corner as well. I cannot run any utilities of any kind and ctrl-alt-del does not repond. Only the mouse pointer moves but there is no reponse from the buttons. This is the first time I have run safe mode in the year I have had this comp.

I have a gateway 700GR with xp home sp2 and a p5 at 3GHz

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Did you try logging in as the 'Administrator' account and not your own personal account?

Yes I did. Originally I went in on an account with admin priv and it did not work, then I went in the admin account and got the same.

go to the cmos, choose vga only at boot, reboot to safe mode...alternately, try renaming the dll file as crap.txt and try to delete it

Right, how do I go to the CMOS?

when you boot the machine, hit the del or F1 key, depending on what type of computer you have..sometimes it is F2..watch the screen when you first boot and it should tell you what key it is
