    Some sort of Memory Problem.

    ..I think.

Before I go on with what's been going on, let me tell oyu my system specs:

    Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz w/ HT 1MB L2
    1 GB RAM
    140GB Harddrive
    Windows XP Home SP2
    128MB ATi Radeon X300

That should be all you need to be concerned with, if you need more, I'll tell you.

So now, my problem. It's been occuring for probably a year now, and I'm not sure why. Basically, it seems that I'm running out of RAM. Like say, I have 6 IE's running, FlashFXP, SecureCRT, and Outlook running. Obviously the IE's would get grouped into one thing on the task bar. However, when the problem occurs, I can't open up the list of all the IE's that are opened. No errors or anything, it just doesn't popup. So I'm like "wtf". To fix it, I usually have to exit Outlook, SecureCRT or something. Ok, so it looks like a memory problem thus far. So I go to look at my page file, and put it up all the way. Reboot, and it doesn't help anything. after awhile. Keep in mind this only happens after the computer is on for about a week or two. If I reboot, it's fine again for awhile. Another occurence is when I'm listening to music, and I'm running all that stuff above, plus Winamp. Usually I have it go to the top of my screen so I can pull it down when necessary. When the problem is going on, I have to minimize everything on that monitor (I run dual monitors) then it'll popup.

So, it looks like a memory problem of some kind. But this shouldn't be happening when I have 1GB of RAM, I wouldn't think. Computer stats only show me using half of it. I don't dare ask the Dell technicians because they are dummies (no offense). So if anyone can help me at all, it'd be appreciated. I don't have the money right at the moment to get another stick of RAM, so if that can be avoided, it'd be GREAT!

    Thanks in advance,

    Daniel

Outlook can be a memory hog, especially if you have alot of emails.

No, I have not. I will do it in a little bit. What will it say if it's bad or good?

Outlook is only taking 21MB of RAM right now. However, IE is taking up 90MB on one of the processes. I think it's time to start migrating things over to Firefox. While I'm on the topic of Firefox, is there a way to transfer my passwords and stuff from IE to Firefox?

When you first install Fx, there should be an Import wizard, however I am not to sure about the passwords as I am sure IE encrypts them which I don't think Fx can decrypt.

Alright, I assumed as much, sadly. I've always had Firefox installed, I just don't use it much. Guess I'll just have to make use of "Forgot Password?"

This saves you time customizing Firefox to fit your needs.
    This is reassuring.
