Windows Validation not all its "cracked" up to be! lol

Users receive a Windows Genuine Advantage ActiveX component when downloading software for the first time under the new regime. After closing and restarting Internet Explorer, users can then click Tools, Internet Options, Programs, Manage Add-Ons. Merely clearing the check box next to Windows Genuine Advantage prevents the test from taking place.

Another easy method was also published by Sinhack Research Labs. As explained in a posting to the Full Disclosure discussion list, downloading Microsoft's own GenuineCheck.exe program, and configuring it to run in "Windows 2000 compatibility mode," makes the test always succeed in Windows XP.

I have seen at least six ways to get past the WGA now. Apparently Microsoft have told their programmers not to bother trying to fix the holes and to go back and start from fresh :eyespop:

Then someone will crack it with an hour again

Just a silly comment; MS should have a health hazard warning for this. I cannot tell you how many times I cracked my head crawling under the desk to try and read that teeny weenie number off back of PC. Cracked enough times, I finally wrote the darn thing down. Now if I could only remember where I wrote it down… short term memory problem from all those head cracks
