    How to edit your system sounds in Windows XP without buying / downloading any applications:

    Start -> Run -> regedit

    1. System "ding" noise, when you adjust you volume and then let go of the slider. Also the noise when you are not able to click on an item.

    2. When you close a program

    3. When your battery is down to 3%**

    4. When you put a PnP* device in your computer

    5. When you take out a PnP device from your computer

    6. When a PnP device's installation fails

    7. When you maximize a window

    8. When you minimize a window

    9. When you restore a window to the taskbar

    10. When you restore a windows from the taskbar

    11. When your computer boots up, but you haven't logged on yet

    12. When you logoff Windows

    13. When you logon to Windows

    14. When your battery is down to 10%**

    15. The current sound for the selected action

    16. The default sound for the selected action

    17. Name of the registery key

    18. Type of registery key

    19. The value of the registery key**

    20. Modifys the registery key

    21. Modifys the registery key in binary

    22. Deletes the registery key

    23. Renames the registery key


    *PnP(Plug and Play) - Scanner, JumpDrive, printer, ect.
    **Laptops ONLY, Windows default
    ***What it does


    To edit what the sound file is, go into the folder you want -> .Current -> Right Click "(Default)" -> "20"(see list above)

    Next, under "Value Data:", delete what ever is currently there, and relplace it with what ever you want ***MUST BE A .WAV FILE*** (ex. C:\sounds\beep.wav)
