Access another computer from diff locations?
-
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know I figured out remote assistance. It is very simple.
Both parties need to be signed into MSN Instant Messenger.
The party needing help goes to Actions > Ask for remote assistance
I was even able to access my in-laws computer by selecting “Take Control
Both in-law and myself are using broadband and the connection was speedy. My mom connects through the phone lines, that was much slower.
When connecting to someone's computer this way. Is there any chance of receiving the viruses or bad stuff that they are infected with, on their computer? Can it cross over to my computer?
I don't think so, my in-law is loaded with trojans and other bad things and I haven't been infected. I think I'll tell her to take me off her mailing list though
Thanks everyone for help & input

Thanks for the detailed instructions, Denise! It's good to know that you are not likely to get infected from others computers. It must be so much more comfortable working on someone's computer at your own convenience, from your own home. :-)

It would be nice to set up a global interface so people could just give a password and have their computers fixed in a real-time envornment. Maybe someone will come up with a solution and earn a fortune from it sometime soon?.
